Carrying Tradition Forward in Wakefield, MA

The story of our Masonic lodge began on January 13, 1887, when fifty-six Master Masons petitioned the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts to form a new lodge.

The first meeting was held in Malden, where the lodge was named in honor of Brother Elisha Slade Converse, a community leader known for his civic dedication and strong Masonic values. His legacy of service and integrity continues to inspire us today.

For over a century, we have upheld the principles of Masonic initiation, welcoming new members into a tradition of learning and fraternity. Throughout the years, we have fostered Masonic membership built on friendship, leadership, and shared purpose.

Our fraternal lodge has stood as a gathering place for social events, mentorship, and community service. We remain dedicated to strengthening the Freemason brotherhood, ensuring that every member finds connection, purpose, and support.

In 2009, Converse Lodge A.F & A.M. merged with Mt. Scopus Lodge, bringing together two longstanding Masonic traditions. Today, we continue to uphold the values that have defined us for generations. If you’re ready to be part of something greater, we invite you to join us!
